Although we did not support him, we congratulate the new president (P. Noy). We also commend him regarding the implementation of catching cars with illegal Sirens ("Wang wang"), number 8 plates and commerative plates. At last someone is doing an action regarding this age old problem which irritates very many Filipinos. Seems that he is doing a good job during these few days; we hope it continues on. We hope he disproves what we initially thought of him, as a "non-performer". Again Congratulations Noy, keep up the good work.

We pity out country because many people still chose to vote by popularity or money. Kamag-anaks and popular personalities are still the popular choice. We pity all Filipinos who will have to endure this again. We hope one day the Philippines will become mature again to vote wisely. In the mean time We pray that our stocks and monetary value will go up, that agriculture will be the priority, that there will be total peace throughout the nation, that kamag-anaks and palakasan will be a thing of the past, and corruption will be significantly lessened. Hope things will go for the better. But let us give them the benefit of the doubt to prove themselves.

Filing Galore

Many personalities filed their candidacy on Dec 1, which is the deadline for filing. A lot of celebrities, famous and infamous politicians. Even Richard Gordon and Bayani-Fernando tandem (called themselves "The Transformers") filed for President and Vice-President, respecitvely. Will we see more signs like this in the streetif they win?

V for Victory

Now it is clear that Eddie V has filed his candidacy for President. His supporters attended his rallies without any payment. Moreover, his supporters buy his campaign merchandise, and even donates money. This kind of leader is what we desperately need for our country. His religion is both a positive and a negative for this largely Roman Catholic country. Look beyond religion, but the source of hope. This might probably be the HOPE our country is looking for. I hope there would be more candidates like this running for posts in the comming elections. May pagasa pa Bayan.

Orange is the Colour?

In Tondo, there is currently a proclamation rally. They are awaiting their candidate for the 2010 presidential election to come out. They are saying that the next president is someone whos favorite colour is orange and will be wearing orange shirt; while the Vice-presidential candidate will be someone with a green mind.

Efren vs. Maguindanao

Congratulations again Kuya Efren Penaflorida for winning the CNN Hero of the year. Hope you continue to be humble and be driven by faith.

This Maguinadanao crises has cancelled the good name Kuya Efren has brought to the Philippines. Why is our government consenting political dynasties/families having armed private armies. The teacher of children of these families would most probably give them a good or high grade because they might be scared of messing with them, violating the autonomous concept of ethics. One candidate that is against these armies with guns would probably be JC delos Reyes. Activist Nicky Perlas would also would not like this armies, and probably Noy and Villar (not sure). Anyway, hope to see the light after the gloom.

Vote for Manny . .

No, we are note endorsing any presidential candidate, as we have to really look into the hearts of these candidates; just wanted to say to Vote for Manny Pacquiao, not for any political position, but for being a true nationalist. He made us proud for bagging the 7th world record title for boxing.

"And daming lipatan sa politics; ang daming balimbing". This is scary because as politician they can go to where they benefit themselves (e.g. popularity, power and money). If they truly believe in the principles of the party, they should have sticked to it till the end, and that is loyalty. If the principles of the party are being compromised, party members really concerned towards the party can contest and argue regarding the compromise; or party members could discuss themselves why this is happening.

Candidates transferring to old political parties is good as it makes these "original" parties stronger. These older parties have principles which are tested through time. However, Not all newer parties are formed usually for the benefit of their own political agenda; but because of the principles they believe in (e.g. argued in the case of Bayan Muna and Bangon Pilipinas).

Principle-based Ethics for Nationalism

There is a lot to learn from bioethics which we can apply to promote our nationalism. There are 4 major(moral) principles that bioethicists recognise, that we can also apply to our compatriots.

1. Justice - 'fairness, rightness and equity'. Ensure that the member of society are due any rights and services they have.

2. Autonomy - 'autos' (self) and 'nomos' (rule) in Greek. Respecting the right of each individual.

3. Non-maleficence - 'primum non nocere' - 'above all do no harm'. Do no harm to others.

4. Beneficence - 'action for the well-being of other'. Do something for the benefit of others.

If we try to follow these principles, we can be better Nacionalistas.

Eleksyon 2010?

Even though the tandem of Noynoy and Mar is somewhat like a political dynasty tandem (both are sons of political families), they seem to have a heart for the people. Noynoy, we reckon and hopefully, wont be a corrupt politician, and the fact he has fear to do much evil because of being 'quite' religious. Mar, on the other hand, is an action man, being able to do propose laws.

There are people like Chiz, who seem to have 'Prinsipyo' at the moment,... lets wait and see. And there is Manny V, being able to really understand both the poor and the rich, and not much bad baggage compared to many; but yet has to disprove allegations regarding C-5. Gibo looks like a good speaker, but has some undesirable connections.

There is also Erap, Ebdane, JC and Nicky. Who again? In fairness, JC and Nicky seem to be good future politicans.

Lets really monitor these people as they could shed the real self at any point in time during the campaign period.
